UPCOMING EVENTS

Tie One On – Social Fly Tying

Once a month we host a social fly tying event from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Old Ox Brewery (44652 Guilford Drive, Unit 114, Ashburn, VA 20147). Bring your vise, material, and a thirst for good drink, food & company. If you are new to tying or have never tied before we will be glad to help you learn. If you need materials, stop by the shop on your way to the brewery.

Contact the store for the next event date.

FLY FISHING 301

Whether you have come up through the Orvis FF101/201 program or you are someone that just wants a little guidance on how to become a better fly fisher, nothing beats time on the water with a knowledgeable guide or instructor. Our FF301 program is the next step in your fly-fishing education and is designed to give you a great on-the-water fly-fishing experience. We have several FF301 options available.

Locally, we have store outings to Cedar Creek in Star Tannery Virginia. These half-day events are limited to eight (8) guests per trip and are scheduled rain or shine. Personal equipment, including waders is required along with a valid Virginia Fishing License. Registration is in-person at the store only.

We also host several destination outings, which offer tremendous opportunities to fish some historic trout water. These 2 day trips focus on developing your skills as an angler through casting, rigging, fishing presentations and group breakout sessions. These trips are joint with other Orvis Stores and have limited participation.

Contact the store for the available FF301 opportunities.

Store Personnel

Orvis Retail Store Jimmy AliffArea Manager: Jimmy Aliff
A lifetime outdoorsman, Jimmy joined The Orvis Company in 2007 pursuing a career in his passion for fly fishing and hunting. Starting at our Tyson’s Corner store, Jimmy became our store manager in Leesburg, VA when we opened the store in 2013. Jimmy enjoys fishing anywhere he can for both freshwater and saltwater species as well as hunting big game, upland birds and waterfowl. When not at work or in the field you’ll find him spending time with his wife Lailuma and their tracking dog Whiskey.

Orvis Retail Store Scott AllenFishing Manager: Scott Allen
Scott and his family made Northern Virginia their home in 2001. After retiring from the Air Force in 2006, Scott transitioned to working as a government contractor. He has enjoyed fishing most of his adult life—stalking native brook trout in mountain streams, casting for bass and pan fish on local lakes, surf fishing in the outer banks, hunting bones on the flats, or sitting on the pier with his father-in-law, catching whatever happens to swim by.
