Learn fly-fishing basics in one of our free Fly Fishing 101 classes. Perfect for beginners of all ages, the Fly Fishing 101 course includes free lessons on fly casting and outfit rigging.
Fly Fishing 201
If youve already completed Fly Fishing 101, youre ready for the next step. Join us for a short outing on local water and a chance to catch your first fish! A nominal fee for the outing may apply.
A free Trout Unlimited Membership—a $35 value—is included for all FF101 and FF201 graduates. Upon completion of the course, you will receive special in-store offers, valid for the purchase of Orvis products.

Our FF301 program is the next step in your fly-fishing education. Designed to give you a great on-the-water fly-fishing experience, the day's instruction is built around specific techniques and local fisheries.

James Howard, a native Texan, started with Orvis in 2008. Along the way, he has gained knowledge on the various inner workings of Orvis and their values. James grew up in the small East Texas town of Warsaw, spending his free time enjoying the outdoors. Presently, James passes his time writing music, creating various works of art, studying physics and astronomy, and spending time with his wife Ramsay. Fishing Manager: Mitch Kempe
Mitch was born and raised in Texas and started fly fishing at the age of 13. Mitch enjoys fishing his local water for an assortment of freshwater species but also loves to take trips and chase trout and any other fish that will take his fly. Before starting at Orvis Mitch worked with special needs kids at a local school district. When Mitch isn’t on the water you can find him hanging out with his wife Rebekah and daughter River!
