Store Manager: Chris Gass
With more than 30 years of retail experience spanning the grocery, pet, and sporting goods industries, Chris Gass is certainly well-positioned to handle the day-to-day goings on at Orvis Worthington. But Chris’s qualifications don’t end there. Growing up in south Louisiana, the outdoors was big part of his life, and a passion for chasing redfish along the Gulf coast remains high on his list of loves to this day. When not walking the floors at Orvis Worthington meeting new customers and greeting the regulars, you may find Chris fishing, hunting, shooting, reloading or woodworking. And on those days off when you may not be able to find him, there’s a good chance he’s out geocaching, hoping to be the first one to arrive at a previously undiscovered cache.
Fishing Manager: Jack Hale
Being an Orvis Fishing Manager isn’t a job you get by accident. It’s the kind of job you train for from an early age…and that’s Jack Hale’s story. Jack has been fishing since he was 3 years old and fly fishing since he was 12. He studied Wildlife Management when he went to college at Ohio State. And in his spare time, he ties flies—lots and lots of flies! Luckily for all of us, Jack’s been sharing his passion for fishing with Orvis Worthington customers since 2017. When you see Jack at the store, he’ll likely be helping an angler while telling one of his favorite fishing stories…probably the one about how he lived in Ontario after graduating high school and spent the summer fishing the St. Lawrence River! Or the one about how the best “eat” he ever had was a pike that T-boned an 8” chartreuse Lafkas’ Deceiver the day he lost his tackle box. Because, for Jack Hale, having “passion for the outdoors” goes without saying. It’s part of who he is…and it’s a big part of why he’s our Fishing Manager at Orvis Worthington.
