Store Manager: Nick Garlock
A fly-fishing guide on the Muskegon River for 10 years, Nick Garlock was perfectly prepared to take the helm at Orvis Grand Rapids. This Michigan native and former US Navy sailor still gets out on the water as much as he can and prefers to fly fish for, as he told us, “Anything that swims.” Though if given a choice, he’d most likely head for Belize and Ambergris Caye, a favorite destination he’s visited multiple times. Fly tying and wingshooting are also high on his list of loves. With a strong background in the hospitality industry Nick is a natural when it comes to managing the everyday challenges of running a retail operation. He always looks forward to getting his customers exactly what they need. Whether it’s apparel, gear, or guidance, Nick’s always ready to get his customers headed in the right direction.
Fishing Manager: Trent Jackson
Growing up fishing the inland lakes of southern Michigan with his grandfather and great-grandfather ignited a passion within Trent that helped turn a pastime into a career. A Grand Rapids native, Trent is an angler, bow hunter, and traveler—Leadville, Colorado, and the headwaters of the Arkansas River being one of his favorite fishing destinations. Back home in Michigan, Trent heads for the northern part of the state and the Upper Peninsula during upland and waterfowl seasons. Trent’s love of the sport of fly fishing runs deep, and his knowledge of the local area makes him an invaluable resource when you’re in search of the gear and guidance you need to make the most of your Michigan angling experience.
